Spring Garden, Meadow House

April 20, 2026 | Romila Jogdand

Spring begins with rain and a quiet shift in the air.

Warmer days follow, new leaves unfold, and the garden slowly starts to wake. Light lingers longer, and blooms arrive gently, never all at once.

This front garden at Meadow House moves through the season in layers. Fresh greens return first, followed by texture, color, and soft movement. Japanese maple anchors the space, with grasses and seasonal planting weaving through.

Morning feels open and bright, while evening settles into something softer, catching light along the edges of leaves and flowers.

Lagerstroemia ‘Muskogee’ anchors the garden, with roses and Pittosporum ‘Golf Ball’ layered beneath in soft structure.

Evening settles into the garden with Limonium, Phlomis and Achillea adding soft color through quiet layers of bloom.

The front entry garden is my favorite, where foliage and color do most of the work. Japanese Maples, Oakleaf Hydrangea, Japanese Forest Grasses, Golf Ball Pittosporum, and Star Jasmine in a soft, layered entry planting.

Westringia softens the base, with maples, Star Jasmine, and Abelia ‘Kaleidoscope’ layered through in contrast.
